Stories from the Studio: Janita Byrne at Rusten House Arts Centre
This week at Stories from the Studio STA caught up with Janita Byrne, the Team Leader – Culture Arts and Museums for Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council, at Rusten House, an arts hub in the centre of Queanbeyan. The magnificently restored Rusten House was officially opened in April 2021 and boasts a program of rotating monthly exhibitions by local artists as well as travelling shows.
Rusten House is a arts and cultural hub operated by QPRC. STA are reconnecting with the Queanbeyan-Palerang community through the Reconnect Program of workshops and events. Come say hello.

Connie Colleen was an Artist and arts activist whose work help to ensure Rusten House survived to become an arts centre. Two of her bronze sculptures plus an image of the Artist are on semi permanent display at Rusten House on loan from Connie’s family.

FEEL by Marilyn Hutchinson – Fever Ward Gallery
Present moment drawings on paper creating layered, abstract artworks using feelings. These are in response to different music genres, speeches and poetry reading. A second group of works in paint, in homage to Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama are referencing her infinity nets, letting feelings lead the way.
Celebrating 30 years of Wildcare
Established by volunteers and continuing with that model, Wildcare has continued with its core philosophy of rescue, raise, rehabilitate, release and has saved thousands of native animals, including macropods, birds, reptiles, wombats and small mammals. This exhibition is about celebrating native wildlife through Wildcare’s eyes and features works in a range of media by Wildcare Members and Friends.
