Stories from the Studio: Robyn Moore

This week at Stories from the Studio STA caught up with artist Robyn Moore!

Robyn lives and works from her home in Young. Her delicate and highly accomplished works reflect the skills of one of Australia’s most highly regarded porcelain painters. All pieces are completely hand done using traditional porcelain art techniques.

“I was introduced to Porcelain Art in Bombala in 1986 after admiring a hand painted vase in a friend’s home. I soon began travelling each week to attend lessons and became fascinated by this beautiful art form. I entered work in local shows and exhibitions and continued to paint until we moved to Young in 1989”

“Soon after arriving in Young I purchased my first kiln and after encouragement from family and friends began to share my knowledge and commenced teaching Porcelain Art. I held two adult classes per week. One day and one evening. I also held a children’s class one afternoon a week.”

Robyn says that what inspires her is “Nothing more than nature… I love getting my inspiration from a walk in the street. What inspires me is nature itself, Australia’s flora n fauna. The colours our flowers are just extraordinary. “

“Art to me is an expression of you…what you enjoy…..how you feel while painting…..what your mood is at the time of painting. These to me are all evident in your finished work. Art is also a very personal thing. What appeals to you does not necessarily appeal to others but if something has given you 5 minutes of pleasure it has been worth the effort.”

Robyn was selected as the first Artist to exhibit at the STA Box Gallery in Hilltops! Robyn’s Exhibition Porcelain Painting is on display in the Young Town Hall now!

Robyn is also exhibiting at Burrangong Art Gallery and at Whichcraft & Coffee Cottage
