Southern Sounds: Darren Powell
Darren is a crooner and multi-instrumentalist based in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. Working from the Great American Songbook as performed by Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Chet Baker, Louis Armstrong and the contemporary charm of Harry Connick Jr, Rod Stewart and Michael Bublé, Darren’s mastery extends across various instruments. His harmonious symphonies and fine Flugelhorn lines effortlessly transport listeners to the golden age of smooth crooning and jazz, eliciting a blend of nostalgia and delight. Having enchanted audiences in venues across the Highlands, Sydney and Melbourne, and more recently in Noosa, Queensland and the picturesque vineyards of McLaren Vale, South Australia, Darren brings a touch of humor and camaraderie to his performances, creating memorable, laughter-filled events that perfectly complement his soulful tunes.
Darren is also Highland FM’s 100% Home-grown Artist of the Month for December!
