Fibre to Fabric Interactive Exhibition – All Galleries and the Signal Box Room
Sunday April 14. Two sessions. 10am to 12noon and 1pm to 3pm.
An interactive exhibition on bringing fibre to fabric. Each room of Connect@Gunning Station was set up so participants could try a different stage of taking a fleece and turning it into a finished product. Participants could try fleece carding, wool spinning, different kinds of weaving looms and making cords from yarn.
The feedback received from the over 100 participants comprising school groups on Friday 12th and the public on Sunday 14th April indicated enthusiastic support for the venue and the fact that participants could try equipment for themselves.
Participants praised the patience and expertise of the tutors and volunteers from Creative Gunning and the Goulburn Handweavers and Spinners who freely shared their knowledge.
“such a wonderful venue with generous, talented women sharing their gifts and imparting knowledge and experience to pass on”
“loved every second – can’t wait to try a few things and come to more of these events”
“We loved the hands-on aspect. Hope you have it next year and we will come again.”
Given the strong interest from participants Creative Gunning hopes to organise more events like this.
