Stories from the Studio: Lee Crisp

This week STA visits Lee Crisp at her renovated sheering shed turned art studio a few kms out of Braidwood. Lee has over 40 years experience as a full-time visual artist and educator. Her ongoing projects encompass a diverse array of subjects, including figurative, still life, landscape, and portrait painting, all approached with a keen focus on exploring pictorial structure in relation to the human form.

Lee likes to work standing with a long brush, working mostly with watercolours. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Leeanne’s interests are wide-ranging. She delves into art history and theory, engages in art museum education, and explores the intersections of psychology and neurobiology with artistic expression. Additionally, her fascination with film, literature, and increasingly, music, underscores a multifaceted approach to creativity and cultural exploration.
