Stories from the Studio: Michaela Bolzan

This week we got to spend time with Michaela Bolzan the
Festival Director of the Southern Highlands Writers’ Festival (SHWF).

The SHWF is one of the most popular and much-loved events on the Highlands’ winter calendar and the 2024 festival will happen on the weekend of 26-28 July in Bowral.

Over it’s 13 year history, SHWF has hosted some of the biggest names in Australian literature. Including Mike Carlton, Robert Dessaix, Nikki Gemmell, David Malouf and Don Watson.

This week Michaela has unveiled the program for 2024 which features some  big names, emerging talent and new opportunities.

Highlights include sessions with Liz Hayes, David Marr and for the first year ever a boot camp creative engagement session facilitated Posie Graeme-Evans, focusing on character development, story arc and writer’s block.

I’m incredible proud of the history of our festival and the program this year; there really is something for everyone. I hope to welcome first time attendees as well as our loyal festival goers.

The 2024 SHWF will take place on Friday 26th, Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th July at the iconic Empire Cinemas in Bowral, only 90 mins drive from Sydney and Canberra.

Head over to the Southern Highlands Writers Festival website for the full program and get tickets to your preferred sessions.
