Assemblage

Experience Working with Children: I have been an Arts Educator facilitating children’s Art Workshops for approx. 6 years now.  Employed by  Campbelltown Arts Centre, Wollongong, Penrith, Casula Powerhouse, Hawkesbury and Goulburn Regional Galleries and Camden, Wollondilly, Wingecarrabee, Warrnambool, Queanbeyan and Marrickville Councils. Presenting workshops with a sustainable ethos,  majority are recycle themed from collage, wearable art, printmaking to 2D &3D plastic assemblages ages from 2yrs to over 50yrs, in regional primary and high schools, age care facilities, galleries and workshop spaces in the above council regions. My focus when working with children is that its all-inclusive, and that they have a great experience and that the environment is friendly and safe, focusing on use of materials and tools provided. I feel a positive result is not about reaching the objective or creating a completed piece but by creating a long-lasting interest in being creative.

My work practice: As a professional artist my art practice is based on being sustainable in all use of materials. I have been working as an assemblage artist for over 10 years where I have become known for my plastic assemblages, exhibiting nationally and internationally as well as having my work in collections here in Australia and overseas.  My formal training within the visual arts; a Diploma of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Visual Arts has exposed me to various mediums but my need to have a sustainable practice is what continues my passion for assemblage work. Within my practice I have been using unwanted plastic toys sourced from second hand and charity shops as well as donations to create my artworks, this includes the bases of my works, which are second-hand mannequins. The source of my materials is unfortunately prolific as our society has become such a disposable society with a dependency on plastic. I am passionate about sustainability and to slow down the journey of plastics that go into landfill.
