Cathy Shugg: Stories from the Studio
STA caught up with Cathy Shugg this week! Award-winning mixed media artist, painter and teacher Cathy is driven to explore the world with and through her art. She has painted en plein air on six continents to date, undertaking artist residencies and other adventures to challenge and inspire her artmaking. Cathy’s plein air works capture personally significant moments in time and place; these art-life experiences then inspire further creativity in the studio. Her art practice and teaching encompass a broad range of 2D media, techniques and subjects. She is a feature artist and teacher for organisations in Australia and overseas. Cathy has participated in solo and group shows in Australia and Europe and her art is represented in private and corporate collections in Australia, Europe, the UK and North America.
Cathy is opening her studio this June long weekend 11- 13 June for
The EA Pop Up Project, proudly supported by STA!
“I’m excited to be opening my Bowral studio for the first time this June long weekend, along with the studios of 20 other local Southern Highlands artists and artisans! “
“You’ll find original artworks and beautiful quality Giclee art prints in my studio. With paintings, mixed media work and drawings on stretched canvas and paper, framed or affordably mounted, there’s something for everyone. Do pop in and say hi! Look for the studio entry on Elm St. You’ll be warmly welcomed by the studio dogs – and me!”
Cathy’s Studio is at 103 Merrigang St (On the corner of Elm St), Bowral
You can find Cathy’s work online on her website and instagram
