Wayne at Gundaroo Film Society: Stories from the Studio

An amazing visit this week to Gundaroo Hall in the Yass Valley, where we were greeted by Wayne Kotzur, the projectionist at the Gundaroo Film Society.

The Gundaroo Film Society is a historic and vibrant community organization dedicated to celebrating cinema at the Gundaroo Soldiers Memorial Hall.

The Gundaroo Film Society is more than just a place to enjoy films—it’s a thriving social hub that brings people together.

Wayne is particually proud of the high-quality sound system the group have worked to install into the hall for movies and events. The surround sound ensures that every detail—whether it’s the subtle nuances of dialogue or the sweeping crescendos of a musical score, can be enjoyed to its fullest.

The Gundaroo Soldiers Memorial Hall is a cherished centerpiece of the community, steeped in history and character. Originally built in 1890 as the Elite Skating Rink, it has since become a versatile venue for gatherings, events, and film screenings. Its warm, rustic charm is matched by excellent acoustics and a welcoming atmosphere, making it the perfect setting for the Gundaroo Film Society.
