Stories from the Studio: Jemma Sharwood
This week, STA visited Jemma at her studio in Yanderra. Jemma, is an artist with a deep connection to her roots in rural Australia, warmly invites you to explore her creative space. Raised on a farm further inland, Jemma’s work is a reflection of her experiences of girlhood in the countryside. Her art primarily revolves around botanical drawings and large still life pieces, each meticulously crafted with a blend of awe and analysis.
J
emma’s approach to art is both personal and expansive. She enjoys dissecting her own experiences on a microscopic level while also delving into the vast narratives of history and anthropology. The stories of women throughout history particularly resonate with her, and she believes these tales are vital to share through her work.

Her studio is not just a place to view art but also to create it. Jemma hosts drawing and painting workshops, which she describes as a paint-and-sip class with extra flair. These sessions offer a chance to learn, connect, and have fun in a vibrant, creative atmosphere. A visit to Jemma’s studio promises inspiration, education, and a touch of pizzazz.
