Jessica Raschke is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, editor and creative consultant living in Bundanoon. STA asked her about her latest projects.
I’m very lucky to be working from our double-garage which was recently converted into a light and spacious studio with views of the nearby Morton National Park.
Even among bushfires and the pandemic, I’ve been lucky to find a few creative opportunities to help keep me afloat. In March, I enjoyed a one-week residency at the legendary Varuna Writers’ House in Katoomba where I generated a new suite of poems.
I’m currently an artist-in-residence with the The Corridor Project, with a focus on the anthropocene and the environment. While the residency has so far been over Zoom due to the pandemic, I have enjoyed learning from some really stellar talents. It’s reawakened a love for photography, so I’ve been spending time exploring the medium, a real lifeline during lockdown. I hope to travel to Cowra and stay onsite at Corridor as soon as possible.
When you next find yourself walking past MENTAL Bowral, you can read my words across the door as part of MicroGalleries International’s Words in Windows
I also have a collection titled Lightening Shades that will be published in October by Ginninderra Press.
