We are set to light up the night at the annual Illuminate Festival of Art and Light featuring the STA lantern parade. This year there are more options than ever to make a lantern join in all the fun of the lantern parade.

STA are proud foundation partners with Wollondilly Council for the annual Illuminate Festival.

4PM-7PM WED 18 SEPT – LANTERN MAKING WORKSHOP AT WOLLONDILLY SHIRE HALL

The whole family is invited to a FREE creative workshop to make a bamboo and paper at Wollondilly Shire Hall. Drop-in no booking required (lanterns take approximately 1 hour to complete). All materials provided, children to be accompanied.

ALL DAY THURSDAY 19 SEPT – SCHOOL WORKSHOPS

It’s back to school for STA delivery lantern making in schools with local students. This year we are making lanterns with St Anthony & a second school to be confirmed. Ask your school if they’re doing lantern making for the festival.

4PM-5PM FRIDAY 20 SEPT – PAPER LANTERN POP-UP ACTIVITY

Drop in paper lantern making with Tracey Luff and STA under the trees at the eastern end of Picton Botanic Gardens. Running in the lead up to the lantern parade at the parade marshalling area below Picton Bowling Club Car park

4PM-5.30PM FRIDAY 20 SEPT – DRUMMING CIRCLE

Learn drumming techniques lwith Pat from River Road Creative Academy to add a beat to the Illuminate Lantern parade. Use one of our drums / noise makers or bring your own. Under the trees at the eastern end of Picton Botanic Gardens. 

6PM FRIDAY 20 SEPTEMBER – ILLUMINATE LANTERN PARADE (MARSHALLING FOR A 6.30PM PARADE) 

A river of lantern light winding through the Picton Botanic garden. Bring a lantern or noise maker and be part of the rfun. Let’s make this year’s parade bigger than ever.  

Meet at the Cliffe Street entrance to the Gardens below Picton Bowling Club Car park.

Get ready to Glow
Can’t make it to one of our lantern making workshops? Make your own with our self-led online lantern making workshop with artist Tracy Luff now available at STA kids.

The Lantern Parade ends at the  spectacular illuminated sculptures and lantern display create by our friends at LightnUp Inc, which continues for Saturday evening.
