Local Artists set to shine at SWELL Sculpture Festival

Two of the STA Regions most established Artists, Al Phemister and Tracy Luff are part of the international display at this year’s Swell Sculpture Festival at Currumbin Brach on the Gold Coast.

Tracy Luff, from Goulburn, and Al Phemister from Yass made the trek up the highway this week to install their works on the Beach.  Both Tracy and Al are regular collaborators with STA and they both create public art for various sculptures trails both locally and interstate.

Tracy is exhibiting her work Exhaust Notes invites viewers to reflect on the balance between combustion and growth, the mechanical and organic, and the impact of our choices on the environment. It sparks a dialogue on sustainability and reimagining our relationship with the world.”

Tracy said that she is thrilled to exhibit at the SWELL Sculpture Festival for the second time!

Al is exhibiting his Dandelion Series that help us to reminisce and remember a time when we blew ‘wishes’ as a child. Al’s Dandelions stand tall in the landscape.  Made from steel components, these dandelions are imbued with a sense of movement and seem to gently move in the breeze as they are scattered by the wind.

Swell Sculpture sees more than 60 artworks available in 2024, as well as a gallery of small sculptures, all in the picturesque, natural environs of Currumbin beach.

Swell Sculpture Festival opens Friday 6th September and runs until Sunday 15th.  It is open all hours.
