Last Sunday the STA team were fortunate enough to be invited to attend a Ngunawal Language class at Boree Log Cottage in Yass Valley. Jai and Tyrone Bell from Thunderstone Aboriginal Cultural Services took us taught the enthusiastic group how to acknowledge country in Ngunawal language. We were so grateful to be part of this process and to learn about the amazing things Jai and Tyrone are achieving with language.
For Naidoc 2020 Canberra Museum and Gallery partnered with Thunderstone Aboriginal Cultural Services to create a Ngunawal Story Time project. Ngunawal story Dyirri the Frog told by the late Ngunawal Elder Don Bell is read by his grandson Jai and are bought to life in a stop motion animation. Other stories are also available for purchase on the Thunderstone Website.
