Communities in Control: part inspiration, part action plan
In less than a fortnight (November 16-17), hundreds of your not-for-profit peers will take their virtual seats at our annual Communities in Control conference. We’d love you to join us.
As Our Community group managing director Denis Moriarty says in a column just published in rural and regional newspapers across the country, this event is special.
“Life moves faster these days, and every year Our Community holds a conference to help not-for-profit organisations keep up. Like everything else, this year the conference will be happening online. Naturally, I worry about what we’re losing – the informal meet-and-greet, the networking, the questions from the floor, the free espresso – but the rest is more important than it ever was.
“This year’s conference isn’t just for noting changes. Alarms without action plans are an indulgence. We’re bringing in the people who’ve thought about these things, with experience in strengthening communities, to throw us a line on how to keep our social institutions afloat through rough seas. For my money, the common theme is realising that we don’t just have to grumble, that things can be changed, and that change can be steered.”
