Stories from the Studio: QPRC Heritage Library
Every month STA look forward to the Queanbeyan Mobile Office session at the QPRC Heritage Library, a fabulous community resource in the heart of Queanbeyan.
This week was even more special as we met with Janita Byrne the Team Leader, Arts and Heritage with the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council to talk about the upcoming Heritage Festival.
The QRPC Heritage Festival is held annually throughout April and May. The 2025 festival theme is Unearthed – revealing the past, bringing to light lesser-known histories and stories, and unearthing knowledge to empower younger generations as custodians of culture and tradition.
QPRC works in conjunction with the National Trusts Australian Heritage Festival and the ACT Region Heritage Festival. Sharing the region’s social and family histories to a broader audience has been the goal of this festival over the past 20 years.
Find out more about the Heritage festival and see the full program.
The Library & Local History collection is located in the former Queanbeyan Council Chambers building at 253 Crawford StreetO
The extensive Local History Collection housed at the Heritage Library contains a wealth of historical resources with a wide selection of books on the history of Bungendore, Braidwood, Queanbeyan and the surrounding region. It is of particular interest to local residents, visitors, historians, descendants of early families, researchers and students.
