This week we caught up with Southern Highlands based band, The Bong Bong Allstars, who are currently Highland FM’s 100% Home-grown artists of the month for May!
The band is made up of four super talented musicians, that deliver a one of a kind sound fusing rock, funk and reggae.
Mike Hammond, is a smooth bluesy multi-instramentalist and singer, who studied saxophone and trumpet at Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Jeremy Butterworth is the band’s lead vocalist and guitarist, bringing his 80’s & 90’s indie rock energy from his days on triple J & Rage. Nigel Anderson grooves on the bass and Dave Helman is the band’s drummer, having played with some of the biggest names in the industry!
Their music is influenced by the classic soul and funk of the 60s and 70s including The Meters and later bands like The Brand New Heavies!
