Stories from the Studio: Jock at the Goulburn Club

This week at Stories from the Studio, we visit the Goulburn Club with Jock, the club’s president. Situated in Market Street, overlooking Belmore Park, the Goulburn Club has evolved from its origins as a gentlemen’s club in the 1800s to a vibrant hub for live music, art, and community gatherings. The club is entirely volunteer-run, offering excellent beers, intimate performances, and a welcoming space for creatives of all backgrounds. With a dedicated gallery showcasing local artists and a strong commitment to supporting live music, the Goulburn Club remains a cultural cornerstone for the region.

Beyond the history, the club is alive with music, art, and connection. From regular folk sessions and open mic nights, the club is a go-to venue for artists and audiences alike. Whether you’re stopping by for a quiet drink on the verandah or catching a gig in the downstairs bar, there’s always something happening within these storied walls.

What’s on at The Goulburn Club:

Friday 5 pm on February 7, is the launch of AMPP – Artists, Musicians, Producers & Performers. Presented by Southern Tablelands Arts, AMPP is a seasonal networking mixer designed for creatives to meet, share ideas, and build connections—all in a relaxed, social setting. There’s no agenda, just good company, free nibbles and the bar is open. Best of all, the fun doesn’t stop there—AMPP rolls straight into Garth and Friends from 6 pm, bringing three live acts and a house band to keep the energy going. AMPP will return each season, so if you can’t make this one, mark your calendar for the next meet-ups on May 2, August 1, and November 7. Find out more about AMPP HERE & check out all the other events & programs at the Goulburn Club website and stay updated by following @Goulburn Club on Facebook
