Stories from the Studio: Warren Barnett

This week we’re guaranteed to raise a smile. So may we introduce to you the one and only Warren Barnett, Production and Broadcast Manager at Highland FM.

Warren or Wazz as he is affectionately known is a local legend with an international reputation across the music industry. Wazz is a mastering engineer and audio recorder who has worked with most of the greats of the Australian Music scene and international legends such as Bob Dylan.

Wazz started his career in the music industry in 1969 at EMI records. Over 54 years he has worked for Festival Records, Sony Music and Warner. He currently engineers the So Fresh Australian compilation album series. His life of working in the industry means Wazz has a treasure trove of stories, from engineering the 20th Anniversary Sgt. Peppers album to how he got his Rickenbacker guitar.

Highland FM now gets to benefit from Wazz’s extraordinary experience and expertise. He puts in countless hours making sure the quality and sound of Highland FM is top notch.

Wazz is one of the many critical professionals that produces the Highland FM 100% Home-Grown Artist of the Month. A program that STA have proudly been a partner in since it’s conception in 2021.

You can enjoy a live performance featuring the last three featured 100% Home-Grown Artists at the Bowral Bowling Club. A fabulous night out to get up and dance and support 100% local music. You never know you might meet Wazz on the dance floor.  

Wazz also hosts the The Platters That Matter Saturday Night Party Show” every Saturday night from 7.00 till 10.00, now in It’s 15th year at Highland-FM. Essential listening.
