Cost: $40.00 per person – this includes morning and afternoon tea.
Lunch is to be organized separately by participants and may be obtained from the Young Services Club, or elsewhere.
Where: The Ibis Room, upstairs at the Young Services Club, Cloete Street, Young
When: Saturday 1st May 2021, from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm

To register your intention to attend, please contact Young Regional Library in Lynch Street or email us at [email protected]. Payment will be required after registration. Positions at the workshop are limited to 12 attendees, but if the workshop is fully booked for Saturday, we will consider running a second workshop on Sunday 2nd May from 9.30 am to 4.30 am.

Topics addressed at the workshop include:
• Who am I writing for?
• Where do I begin?
• Organising information
• Using objects and photographs to enhance your family history
• Bringing your family history to life
• Delights, perils, and pitfalls of publishing — whose story?
At the workshop, participants will:
• Explore creative ways to write and organise family history or life stories
• Peruse examples of family histories to see how they are structured
• Discuss ways of publishing family histories
For the Workshop, participants are asked to bring:
• Writing paper, pens, coloured pencils, or textas
• A photo of a relative or ancestor you would like to write about
• A photo of a place you would like to write about
• A memento or object that has some family significance

The Fine Print
As part of the workshop, participants are required to complete a questionnaire and email it to the workshop presenter two weeks before the workshop. The questionnaire will identify the participant’s interests and how well-developed their project may be.
